Hello,
I don't know if I belong, since I'm not a mom, and am not a working adult due to a disability. I am, however, at age 59 going back to school. I'm working on a degree in Network Management. Was a construction worker for over thirty years.
So many inspiring stories! I think everyone who is pursuing higher education of some sort and is not of the "traditional" college age belongs here in this group. What a great place for sharing stories and for encouragement.
John, does your school have a disability counselor or services? If so, check with them to see what kinds of assistance you may be eligible for. Depending on your situation, there may be services available to help ease your transition to school.
Hi guys!
It's been a while since I've been here. I would like to say I am now going to school at Chattanooga State Community College. I'm going full time, and it's tough. Though I'm taking courses which should be medium easy. I'm having trouble wrapping me head around some of them. Oh well, it is a challenge, and keeps my mind working.
Actually, I'm really glad to be back in school. I'm meeting new people, and enjoying the campus life. Even though I'm grandfather age to most of the students they treat me just like I'm one of their peers. It's great! Sometimes I even have to remind myself I'm not 19 again. Please don't be offended ladies, but I'm still a girl watcher. ;-)
And Mary, yes they have disability support services. I don't really use it because I don't need any special accommodations.
