Wow-- I didn't even notice the "sub-heading" for the group. I'm not a mom or a working adult, either. I was able to retire early in 2003, and returned to college full-time in Sept. 2003. I usually carried a full load -- 18-20 credits every quarter...
I'm sure it was financial. It can cost upwards of $10,000 a month to keep a site like that online, over and above personnel expenses. And it can be 3-5 years before a site becomes profitable, so loans are required just to meet operational expenses...

A little about me ...
I retired from a 32-yr software development career in 2003 to return to school full-time. I graduated in June of 2006 (summa cum laude) with a degree in music (composition, conducting, and vocal performance), and I'm now attending graduate school, pursuing a M.Mus. in music history & literature. There are times when I wonder "WHAT was I thinking??!??" returning to college in my 50s, but for the most part, I'm really enjoying a second career as a student.
I'm originally from Kansas City, MO, and I've lived all over: midwest, SC, Washington, D.C. area, San Francisco Bay area, and now the far northwest corner of the US. I love to cook, hate to shop, and when I watch television, I usually watch BBC America, Food Network, or HGTV, although I'll admit to indulging in a little "So You Think You Can Dance," "American Idol," and "Dancing with the Stars" :-)
